Manifesto

Please let these ideas guide your actions and decisions as you proceed with Pennies in Protest action in your city.

Pennies in Protest is about turning hatred into kindness.

Pennies in Protest is about the magic that can happen when you replace a negative thought or action with a positive one.

Pennies in Protest is about sending that energy out into the world and teaching our children, our partners, and ourselves that we do have the power and the ability to change things for the better, through our own kindness and love.

Pennies in Protest is about BEING the change we want to see in the world.

Pennies in Protest is about standing up for people within your community who are attacked and hated from the outside, showing them that they are loved and supported.

Pennies in Protest is about rallying your community — be it neighborhood, town, city, county, state, or world — to be empowered to claim a protected space of loving compassion, free of hatred.

Pennies in Protest is about love and compassion, and this compassion must extend towards all people, including those whose negative actions you wish to overcome.

Pennies in Protest is not about the dollars (or euros or yen or pesos) raised; the fundraising aspect is secondary to the greater goal of turning hatred into kindness.

Pennies in Protest is not about anyone’s ego or desire for recognition for good works; the community achieves and builds the movement, not an individual.

Pennies in Protest is most definitely not about thumbing your nose at anyone else.

Let compassion take the reigns and remember that while we are all drops of water in and of ourselves, we are also the ocean.
